Tell us about your work with seabirds.

Did research on the ecology and breeding biology of tropical seabirds: tropicbirds, frigatebirds, boobies. Tested the Lack and Ashmole hypotheses about seabird life history characteristics, proving them to be inaccurate. Studied the effects of El Nino events on tropical seabirds in the central Pacific.

What advice would you offer to individuals aspiring to pursue a career as seabird scientists?

Find what you are passionate about. Be a good communicator. Get to know other ornithologists. Participate in the professional societies.
