Tell us about your work with seabirds.

My current research integrates demographic modelling, seabird tracking, DNA diet analysis and forage fish surveys into one comprehensive analysis to map seabird – prey interactions to explore the potential drivers of seabird declines in the Southwest of the United Kingdom. I also co-run the Indian Seabird Group with the aim to connect researchers, students, birders in India who are engaged or interested in seabird research.

What advice would you offer to individuals aspiring to pursue a career as seabird scientists?

Sending cold emails really helped me build my network and was a great way to get opportunities to do fieldwork as well as data analysis. Talk to as many people as you can and be persistent!
